WELCOME TO WOLVERINE POWER MARKETING COOPERATIVE
Who We Are
Wolverine Power Marketing Cooperative (WPMC) is a retail electric cooperative selling power to commercial and industrial customers in Michigan’s electric Choice market. Our mission to provide affordable power supply to our members through flexible and creative pricing solutions, while exceeding their service expectations is our foundation and is the commitment that still drives us today.
WPMC received its alternative electric supplier (AES) license from the state of Michigan in 2001 and began serving its members shortly after. WPMC presently supplies power to more than 20 members, making it a top AES in the state.
Like all electric cooperatives, WPMC is governed by a board of directors comprised of its members.
Why We’re Different
WPMC is different than any other AES in Michigan. As a cooperative, WPMC is owned by, and operates solely for, the benefit of its members—you.
WPMC is your number one choice for Michigan-made power offering long-term competitively-priced Michigan-based power. We are proud to offer portfolios tailored to meet each member’s supply goals through flexible pricing and contract lengths, as well as structure the deal to meet their sustainability goals by packaging traditional and renewable power.
In a time when the Choice market is changing, WPMC is well positioned for the future. Our Michigan-based power supply and commitment to providing our members with reliable, competitively-priced power and unparalleled service are just a few of the reasons WPMC is an ideal partner.

About Wolverine Power Cooperative
WPMC’s power supplier is Wolverine Power Cooperative (Wolverine). We are one of seven members they serve.
Wolverine is a not-for-profit, member-owned generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative headquartered in Cadillac, Michigan.
Wolverine traces its beginning to 1948, and continues the mission on which it was founded—provide reliable, cost-competitive power to its members.
Wolverine supplies its seven members through owned and operated Michigan-based generation facilities and power purchase agreements, including natural gas, renewables, and coal.
In total, Wolverine has 1,360 megawatts (MW) of owned generation in its portfolio including:
- 1,000 MW of natural gas through seven power plants it owns and operates
- 210 MW of renewable energy from wind, solar, and hydro
- 150 MW of coal from ownership shares in three power plants
Beginning January 1, 2018, Wolverine hit a milestone when it began providing its members with energy that is 56% carbon-free.
Today, Wolverine and its members are poised for growth—leading Michigan’s energy future in renewables, carbon-free energy, and construction of new generation, all to support its mission.
